hands-down, the best diaper bag backpack out there. | no. 07

I’ve been a mom for 4.5 years but when I tell you I’ve been searching for the perfect bag my whole life, I mean it. Since I was 7, I’ve had to carry around all kinds of medical supplies for my Type 1 Diabetes including testing kits, juice, water, extra pump supplies, snacks, etc. After adding kids to that mix, my avid reading habit, running a small business, and my desire to be prepared for literally anything, I have never found a bag that measured up.

Until now.

I did my research (which means I saved a bunch of backpacks to my Kidizen favorites, looked at up close photos and measurements of backpacks not even marketed for moms, and somehow managed to find the BabbleRoo Diaper Backpack secondhand for $40.

If you don’t need the why, but trust me anyway that this is the best diaper backpack I’ve tried (and I’ve tried a lot), here’s the link. You don’t need to read anymore, I promise you’ll be set.

If you need more convincing, that’s probably a wise move. Normally I wouldn’t be this crazy over a bag.. but when carrying stuff has become your job description…you get a little obsessive.

this diaper bag has allll the bottle pockets

You could supply liquid to at least 7 people with this backpack. With 3 insulated bottle pockets for baby bottles, an elastic band stretch pocket on the outside that fits ANY child’s/adult’s average-size water bottle (unlike the sought-after Fawn Design bag that I used and was so disappointed in), an elastic stretch wipes pocket that I have converted into a water bottle pocket, and two more insulated bottle pockets in the back section.

With all this room I can carry my 16 ounce water bottle, a 16 ounce juice bottle, a 14 ounce kids water bottle, and a 12 ounce kids water bottle without any problem.

a diaper backpack with so many compartments!

I know I just talked about pockets, but truly this backpack’s compartments are genius. There are a total of 7 outer zippers to different sections of the bag. That’s not even including the inner mesh, insulated, and elastic pockets inside those compartments.

When I say that it would be nearly impossible for you to be disorganized with this diaper bag, I mean it.

stroller straps

The BabbleRoo diaper backpack has stroller straps. While that may not seem super important, it is if you don’t want to haul around the bag on your back. These stroller straps are low profile and strong, not something hanging in the way when not in use.

Let me also take a moment to comment on the comfort of this bag. The bag itself weighs 2 pounds and I tested it to the MAX right off the bat, because why not?

I wore the backpack comfortably, without any pulling on my back or neck and this is what I shoved into it:

  • The Complete Brambly Hedge Book

  • Bonkers about Beetles

  • The Power of Now

  • a 16-ounce stainless steel water bottle

  • a 16-ounce glass juice bottle

  • a 12-ounce stainless steel water bottle

  • a 14-ounce stainless steel water bottle

  • chapstick, essential oil roller, lip gloss

  • business cards for my friends’ shops

  • lollipops and emergency glucose for low blood sugar

  • baby wipes and 3 diapers

  • 2 sets of kid’s pajamas

  • a glucose test kit

  • toddler sweater and sweatshirt

  • BBluv nasal aspirator

  • phone and low-profile wallet

  • phone charger

  • 2 1 terabyte hard drives

  • insulin pump charger

  • 1 glass food storage container of rice and turkey (a boycotted meal I was trying to enforce a child to finish before different food…i failed)

  • 2 bills

  • at the end of the day, I shoved in a box of tissues..not a pouch. a box.

I doubt most of you would even need to carry that much stuff but just so you know, I did it and it was comfortable and not a pain! The structure of the bag distributes the weight well and the padded straps are perfect.

a diaper bag with quality construction and intelligent design

I don’t feel like I need to say more about this bag except that whoever designed it was thinking about function, style, longevity, and versatility. As a mom, I’m responsible for carrying my own stuff and that of my child(ren). Most diaper bags only cater to the baby’s or child’s items. This bag took into account the dual nature of a diaper bag.

What I love most about this bag is that it can easily convert through stages of life and doesn’t look like a “diaper bag.” The wipes pouch can be a water bottle pocket, the changing pad can be removed and replaced with a laptop or tablet, and the insulated baby bottle pockets can hold lenses for photography or other small items.

This diaper backpack will stay with me long after kids need me to carry their stuff. It’s my dream bag and I’m so thankful to BabbleRoo for designing it. It’s like someone finally gave me everything I needed and I’m excited to carry everyone’s everything!

What does your dream diaper bag need to have?
